Subject: [W4FHU] BBQ Request for Help List

Hello everyone

This is the official request for help.? On September 28 & 29 from 10 am?to 2 pm we will be officially hosting the Special Event station in conjunction with the 30th annual BBQ festival.

?

There will be work for everyone even technicians.

?

Here is the scoop:? Located behind the Courthouse and EOC building in the Fenced in area, we have been given permission from the Sheriff Department to use this area for the special event.? We will tour the location at the next club meeting so that everyone will know where we are referring to. Located in the fenced area is the Chester County Homeland Security Communication Trailer. The command trailer has an awning that extends out to the front. Mike Burkhead has designed a way that we can hang tarps for additional shelter in the event of rain? We will use the Homeland Security 718 HF station as the primary radio but if someone wants to bring anything else they are welcome to.? The frequency secured by ARRL are listed at www.arrl.org? under the operating activities link, special events.

?

I believe this can be a fun event for all to participate in.? I would also like to see some of us over in the area in the afternoon as we demonstrate the HF side of Ham Radio to the community and who knows we might strike some interest in new hams. We didn't list evening hours because I wasn't sure of the participation level.

?

Here is what I know we are going to need from people.? Please respo1nd back at what level you can help with.

?

General or Above Voice Operators: ?to commit to at least?a one hour shift on Friday or Saturday.making contacts on the specified frequencies.

Please give the hours you will be able to attend and we will co-ordinate the list and give the times out at the next club meeting.

?

Technicians or above that doesn't want to operate: We need you to man the brochure/information table; help transfer paper logs to electronic log; eat BBQ; and fellowship.

?

Items that will be needed:

AN ELMER, WOUFF HONG, AND A RETTYSNITCH, AND NO LIDS!

ink pen or pencils & scrap paper

Fans in the event the weather is warm

extension cord (you never know when you need one)

soldering iron and solder (just in case)

Coax and connectors. (maybe even a vertical wire base-loaded antenna)

folding/lawn chairs (I will bring tables)

cooler of ice and drinks of your choice (non alchoholic only)

Personal Money for BBQ you wish to eat

Funny or interesting ham stories to share with the others.

?

Like I said this can be a fun event for all.

?

Does anyone know what happened to the W4FHU ARC Banner and the literature telling about the club?? If we no longer have any literature may I have permission to make some with the club brochure link on the website. I will have these printed to hand out. Also if you have personal QSL cards bring these to tape to the table for display or bring your QSL's received for show and tell so that others can see your rewards for contacts made.

?

The afternoon will be mostly for fun and fellowship but Mike and I anticipate being present from 7 to 9 pm for fellowship with whoever shows up.

?

Let me know what you can bring and when you can attend.

?
